The Kingston and Arthur’s Vale Historic Area (KAVHA) is a place of outstanding heritage value to the people of Norfolk Island, the Australian community, and as an internationally recognised site.  As a living heritage site, KAVHA continues to contribute to the life, identity and culture of the Norfolk Island community.

KAVHA is currently inscribed on the World Heritage List as one of the eleven places that comprise the Australian Convict Sites World Heritage Property.  The site is also listed on the National and Commonwealth Heritage list and the Norfolk Island Heritage Register, recognising the significance of all four settlement periods.

• British Colonial Settlement 1788–1814
• British Penal Settlement 1825–1855
• Third (Pitcairn) Settlement 1856 to present
