Self-Guided Itineraries
Planning Your Visit
Using the visitor information PDF: 763 KB and map PDF: 601 KB as your reference, the following self-guided itineraries provide some options for exploring different areas of Kingston, depending on your interests and the time you have to experience the site.
A time estimate and physical rating is provided, based on the length of the walk and type of terrain crossed.
Please note that the time estimate and physical rating is a guide only and will depend on your own fitness and mobility. Users are responsible for ensuring they are capable of undertaking the walks and are equipped to deal with changing weather conditions. Please be aware of potential hazards on the walk routes, including uneven terrain and edge drop offs.
The time estimates factor in time to return to the starting point of these self-guided itineraries.
Time estimates are based on spending one hour in each museum and may vary depending on how long you need to explore the museums.
If you are planning to visit multiple museums in Kingston during your stay, the Museum Pass, available from the R.E.O. Shop and Information Centre (6), provides excellent value.
Norfolk Island Museum Tours
If you prefer, the Norfolk Island Museum also runs paid, guided tours of the Pier Store Museum (10) and Sirius Museum (22) on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, and of the Commissariat Store Museum (32) and the House Museum at No.10 Quality Row (38) on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
Tours start from the R.E.O Shop and Information Centre (6) at 9.30am and run for one and a half hours. It is highly recommended for you to have your own transport to participate in these tours.
You can also explore the Cemetery (44) as part of a Norfolk Island Museum tour, For Whom the Bell Tolls, on Tuesday and Friday from 11.30–1.00pm. This is a walking tour but you may require transport to get to the Cemetery.
