The Landing Place

  • Time Estimate: 2 hours
  • Physical Rating: Moderate/Hard

For an overview of the Pitcairn story, we recommend the Pier Store Museum (10). This is open to the public from 11am to 3pm Monday to Sunday.

At Kingston Pier (9), if there is a ship that has arrived, you may be able to catch the cargo boats being unloaded in a centuries-old tradition of using lighters.

Explore the other highlights in the area—the 1788 Landing Place (Kingston Pier) (13), the Crankmill (12), and the Civil Hospital ruins (17) site of the First and Second Government House (15), and Surgeon's Quarters (14).

If you are looking for a more active experience while in this area, you can walk up Longridge Road to Flagstaff Hill (L2). This provides a great opportunity to photograph the Kingston site from above.
